Privacy Policy

Namerillo is a free name generator at namerillo.com. We believe privacy policies should be readable by humans, so here’s ours, written without walls of legalese.
What we collect
If you use Namerillo without an account
You can roll names, search, and explore without signing up. When you do, we create an anonymous session so your ratings stick around during your visit. We don’t collect your name, email, or any personal info. Cloudflare (our hosting provider) may log your IP address and basic request data as part of normal web traffic. We don’t control that, but we don’t do anything creepy with it either.
If you create an account
We store the following when you sign up:
Email address: used to send you a one-time login code. We don’t send marketing emails, newsletters, or anything else unless you ask.
Username: auto-generated on signup (like “SwiftArmadillo4821”). You can change it in settings. Your username is public.
Optional profile info: first name, last name, location, birthday (month and day only), and bio. All optional, all editable, all deletable.
If you sign in with Google
We receive your Google profile email and name to create or link your account. We don’t access your contacts, calendar, drive, or anything else. We store a profile identifier to sign you in, and nothing more.
Things you do on the site
Ratings, comments, tags, claimed names, and name suggestions are stored and associated with your account (or anonymous session). Leaderboards, comment threads, and the rating system all depend on this data.
Cookies
We use two cookies:
namerillo_jwt: an authentication cookie that keeps you signed in for 30 days. HttpOnly, so scripts can’t read it.
Session cookie: tracks your anonymous session so ratings persist during a visit. No personal info stored in it.
We don’t use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies. No pixel trackers. No fingerprinting.
What we don’t do
We don’t sell your data. We don’t share your email with third parties. We don’t run behavioral advertising. We don’t track you across other websites. We don’t use your data to train AI models.
Third-party services
Cloudflare hosts the site and API. They handle CDN, DNS, and DDoS protection. Their privacy policy applies to infrastructure-level data.
Resend sends login verification emails on our behalf. They process your email address only for delivery purposes.
Google OAuth is used if you choose to sign in with Google. Google’s privacy policy applies to the authentication flow.
Data deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data by emailing [email protected] from the email address you signed up with. We’ll remove your account, profile data, and claimed names. Ratings and comments may be anonymized rather than deleted to preserve community data integrity.
Children
Namerillo is not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we’ll remove it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. For significant changes, we’ll note it on the site. We won’t retroactively weaken your privacy protections.
